Leslie Wright and Freddy Rubio
Leslie and Freddy are both attorneys, they met at a continuing legal education event and sparks has been flying ever since. There are so many things that I could say about The Rubios wedding day. There is one word, however, that continually comes to mind… Joy. From the moment I met Leslie I instantly could tell the love they share was something you would see in a fairy tale.
The Engagement
”Freddy conspired with one of my best friends to lure me to Levy’s to try to mine me for information on what kind of engagement ring I wanted. The conspiracy was that in early February 2020 (pre-covid shut-down) my friend Kimberly invited me to grab a glass of wine downtown one day. She mentioned she had to go to Levy’s to look at a necklace she was considering buying and suggested I meet her there and then we walk to a nearby restaurant for wine. After arriving at Levy’s, we did look at a necklace but then somehow the conversation turned to engagement rings. I pulled out my phone and showed pictures of emerald engagement rings to Kimberly and Jared, at Levy’s. Fast forward to August 27 after we hiked 4 miles uphill with about 1000 feet of elevation gain and a 1 mile of bouldering/rock scramble to get to the top of Old Rag Mountain. We had 360 degree views in every direction. We sat down to take a break and eat some lunch and after a 15 minute break, I start to get up and put my backpack back on and Freddy says he isn’t ready yet. I sit back down and he begins what I think is a conversation about us and our relationship and I keep trying to talk. At some point I realize I need to stop talking. After he says some very sweet things, he shifts his position and I see him pull out a little black box and he opens it and I start yelling. He popped the question and I happily accepted.”
Wedding Day Details
They say there is no place like home. The ceremony was outdoors on they’re property and it was the most perfect fall day, (Which is rare in Alabama.) They had picked out the perfect Jewel tones with moody florals, gold accents and rustic details with handmade lanterns and a wooden arbor which were all hand made by the groom. The bridesmaids all wore a different jewel toned dress that they picked themselves. So each fit them and they're personality. Leslie gave the cutest dainty earrings that paired with the bridesmaid’s dresses as a gift. The groomsmen wore bespoke navy blazers with grey pants, white shirts and brown shoes & belt. The groom wore a bespoke Navy suit that had our wedding date embroidered inside the jacket and he also had a bespoke white dress shirt that had Te Amo Leslie (Leslie my love, in Spanish) on the cuff.
Advice for other couples: “Wake up each day ready to be part of the team that makes you a couple and meet your spouse where they are. Also, communicate, communicate, communicate with each other, even with the small things.”
Favorite part of the wedding:
“Our first look, coming down the aisle and locking eyes with my love, our vows and saying hello to all of our guests.”
