Lash lifts and everything you need to know

Updated: Nov 30, 2021

There is something about mascara that we all have a very toxic relationship with. We love how to looks in the morning but by the end of the day we hate how clumpy it has become, and don't even get my started on when it gets dusty.. Wouldn’t it be wonderful to have long, luscious lashes that take zero effort and never smudge? That look like you’ve clamped them between a curler, right from the moment you wake up?

That’s what makes the idea of a lash lift so appealing.

What is a lash lift?

It’s essentially a perm for your eyelashes. A lash lift won’t make your eyelashes longer, thicker, or fuller, but it will curl them upwards rather than outwards so that their full, natural length is more visible. Spa Grade lash lifts uses a solution that includes keratin, a protein found naturally in hair that instantly gives your natural lashes lift, separation, and extra definition without the use of extensions a lot like the 80s perms but without all the harsh chemicals.

How long does a lash lift last?

It varies from four to eight weeks. It honestly depends on the clients life style and how there lashes naturally go through its lash cycle as well as your skin type and skincare routine. If you have oily skin or use a lot of oils around your eye area, the oil can reduce how long your eyelashes maintain their new shape for.

Does a lash lift damage eyelashes?

If done correctly, it shouldn’t cause any problems. However, leaving the chemicals on for even a few minutes too long can, at best, lead to brittle eyelashes, and at worst do more serious damage. There have been some horror stories of women being left with permanent bald patches on their eyelids! So, again, this is not a treatment you want to cheap out on.

Lash lifts probably aren’t for you if you have a history of eye allergies, infections, styes, or chronic dry eyes.

Pre-Lash Lift

  • Please cleanse lashes and lids to ensure they are thoroughly clean and dry

  • Please remove contacts prior to the appointment or bring a contact case to remove at the appointment

  • Please do not wear mascara up to 48 hours prior to the appointment

Post Lash Lift

  • Please do not get your lashes wet or apply any make up for 24 hours

  • Please do not sleep with your lashes pressed in the pillow for the first 5-10 days

  • Wearing oiled based eye makeup can weaken the lift and lessen the time in which the service lasts. It is best to avoid waterproof eye makeup as well.

  • Water based mascara is the best as it removes easily and lessens the chance of breaking down the curl

  • You can repeat a lash lift after 4 weeks of the initial lift, only if you feel the curl has weaken.
